I watched Old Boy last night. and I have to say it was no where near as violent as Ichi but it was in some ways just as sick.

The twist at the end is ill, and I had to cover my mouth and close one eye while watching many of the 'torture'/violent bits.

Apparently they're planning a "westernized" version. I'll be surprised if they keep most of the elements in, all things considered what they'd have to take out would ruin the film.

Monkey's peach for today: Old Boy

Out of ten.
Story:8
The plot was great if and the twist you never see coming.
Flow:7
Never feel like FF'ing to get past unnecessary drivel
Violence:6
A couple of good fight scenes but nothing majour
Gore:4
Blood and guts are kept to a minimum. only two scenes really of gory note and they more squimish thatn gore.
'Squieem' factor:8
Teeth pulling with a claw-hammer scene. Tongue snipping scene. nuff said.
Acting:9
Kicks the crap out of H-wood. all the characters are believable.
Sick Comical value:3
I have to give a 3 because the 'sucide' while holding the dog scene made me laugh out loud. But i'm disturbed so it may just have been me.

Overall:8
Recommended for any fans collection, just don't expect it to be all out action and violence. This is more of a thinking-man's film. The horror is very much the internal variety rather than blood and guts. No real 'herois bloodshed' to be found here. Still very entertaining and incites conversation and debate afterwards.
