Little Italy is the domain of the Marigliano [Mare-eh-geel-lano] Family.  [A history is coming as soon as I can get it typed up and outta my head].  As far as the crime element in the city of San Diego, they have had the most staying power.  And as such, they have the power that comes with it though, it is rarely flexed outside of Little Italy overtly.  Their influence is felt  all over the city, except it's subtle.  Little Asia has actually, in recent time, taken back their domain and as such, created a fine line that each side has been negotiating with caution.  Would you want to hand over a slice?

There is room for backstory in the way of authorities.  One thing that can be said is that the lessons learned from the Families that have fallen previously have been learned by the Don.  Any figure working for the authories, [US FBI, Interpol, etc] will need some fine tuned investigative skills- particularly having knowledge of how organized crime works to really dig up the extent of the Marigliano's 'Empire.'  This isn't your Capone era of stranglehold.

Some static institutions to help you launch a char into the fold:

Saul's:  Owned by, Saul; the resturant has been in his family a long time.   It has changed from a small time place to what it is now, being one of the premier eateries in the Little Italy area.  It's even listed in Visitors Info's Restuarant Guides.

St. Christopher's Cathedral: One of the oldest catholic churches in the area.  It's been restored recently, it's age about 150 years.  The place it stands on was the former site of one of the founding city's churches from the Gold Rush settlement.

Pompeii:  Popular nightclub in the area.  Themed with romanesque columns, drapery and fire themes in reference to the doomed city and Vesuvius.

Proprietą Di Marigliano:  The Marigliano Estate.  Home to the members of the Marigliano family.  Fenced in with 24 hr security.  Contact Chelle for specifics.

...more to come

A listing of Key People in Little Italy:

The Don: Head of the family, obviously.  He's actually a quiet man, in contrast to his impressive size.  A scaled down version of the comics' King Pin by physical traits.  His trademark is exotic fish in aqauriums- in every place he owns, there's at least one.

Saul :  Owner of Saul's.  A family owned restaurant opened by his great, great grandfather.  It's evolved from a mom and pop kind of place to one of the classier places to dine in.  It's also known, for those that have the connections, to have a handful of people working for or a part of the Marigliano  family dining in it.

Joey Two Tongues:  Got his name for his forked tongue, the result of some shit that went down some time back.  Rather than getting it fixed, he had the doc stitch up both sides to give him the forked tongue he has now.  Never has any trouble with the ladies for this alone.  He's one of the higher ups as far as muscle goes in the Family

Barbie: The name stays, the face it belongs to changes.  Term used in reference to any of mistresses of the guys in the family.  Used to refer to the lack of smarts made up for in looks

Gino:  A term used in passing to talk about some guy, usually some Italian guy.  Racial slurs are used for other ethnicities.

Jimmy: What he is in the family will depend on who you talk to.  Right hand man, respected muscle, boy toy for the Don's wife.  No one really knows what his role is.
