The Aude Sapere Library is San Diego's largest library, having a main branch in the heart of downtown with satellite branches located throughout the city. In an effort to bring our patrons access to the materials we have, we're striving to provide as much of our resources online to you as possible.

ABOUT US:

The Aude Sapere Library was founded in 1924, funded largely by the aristocracy of the time. Answering the call for public libraries, Aude Sapere was made public in the late 1930s by Hamilton Scribner III,then current owner, turning the responsibilities to run and maintain the library to the Aude Sapere Library Board. A privately funded Library, Aude Sapere [renamed Aude Sapere in the late 1930s] is the largest and predominant library serving the Metropolitan area for decades. It is a non-profit organization.
