User Guide

The following is primarily for those that are accustomed to posting work on message boards though others not familiar with Efiction may find this useful as well in managing their work archived here. If you need more info, please look at the FAQ .

All story/series handling occurs within Account Info.

If you’ve got an arc of stories [or multiple threads all relevant to an arc] you can do either of two things: add each thread as a new Chapter or post each as its own story and link them together in order using the ‘Create a series’ option in Account Info

The editor provided [tinyMCE] is a WYSIWYG editor to simplify any formatting. Using the font tag for changing text color is still an issue, as the script strips those tags..working on it.

The required fields to fill in are

  • Title
  • Summary
  • Category
  • Rating
  • Chapter Title
  • Story Text

To select a category, choose a Main category, any subcategories will show after the selection of the category. Always choose subcategories if the provided fit the story you're submitting. If you think a category/subcategory should be made, then please use the Contact Us link and send a note to the Admins. In the meantime, indicate the category in the Author's notes and choose the closest applicable main category.

  • If your story is complete, don’t forget to indicate that it is
  • Please add all applicable warnings, granted most know what they can expect when reading RPG fiction set in dark settings..but still, there are people a lil slow on the uptake and this averts any undue fuss.
  • You can copy paste from word, or a plain text file. You can also upload a .txt file if you have that and are able to insert images to your work as you type [much like you would a board post]
  • Hit submit. If you’ve been validated, your story will appear automatically. If you have not, then you’re story will be reviewed shortly.
  • From Account Info, you can go back and edit your work [Manage Stories/Manage Series].
  • For onging works that have contributing authors, you can mark that work as a Round Robin [which is a work that one author starts, yet any registered author can add chapters to]

Series:

Useful for when you have an arc that is spread across many thread/rp sessions, etc. You can add individual stories to your series so that anyone interested in reading a particular arc will have all the stories at hand.

It is also useful for developing a character history based on previously published works [The category Character Series was created solely for this].

You have the option of allowing other authors to add to your series or not

Manage Stories

From here you can add a chapter, edit the story and/or previously published chapters or even delete your work [though it’s asked that you reconsider]

Edit personal Info

You can configure your settings here, adding contact information, submitting the age consent, update alerts to any favorites, beta reader setting, etc. You can also turn on or off the option to use tinyMCE, the WYSIWYG editor used for Efiction.

If any of the input boxes are too small, the lower right hand corner can be dragged to resize..resize as needed. You'll need java enabled to do so.
